ClearWELL’s cost-effective scale control technology is being used with great success to improve system performance and efficiency in the geothermal energy sector.
ClearWELL is ideally suited to control mineral scale in geothermal applications because it protects both the borehole, the system pipelines and the equipment exposed to the wet environment such as pumps, condensers, valves, turbines, heat exchangers and tanks, without any physical intervention in the system itself. In some geothermal applications the use of chemicals is prohibited so ClearWELL provides the ideal, environmentally friendly, treatment solution.
Geothermal steam power stations and Geothermal heating systems draw heat up from the ground with boreholes extending from around 6m to 120m depending on the application.
Variations in temperature, pressure, flow and liquid state (vapour vs condensate) are all contributing factors to the formation of mineral scale in a wet system and are commonly present in geothermal applications. ClearWELL is able to counteract the increased tendency towards scale adhesion so is a valuable performance improvement technology.
